DES MOINES, IOWA -- (DES MOINES - It was a historic but short trip to the state wrestling tournament for Ottumwa's Megan Black.

The Ottumwa 112 pounder made history by becoming one of two female wrestlers to qualify for the tournament.

Black was pinned in her first round match by Logan Ryan of Bettendorf.

In the consolation round, she was pinned by Andres Gonzales of Mason City.

Black ends her season with a 25-15 record.

At least, Black got to wrestle.

KTVO's James Buechele is in Des Moines and reports that a media frenzy occurred when the other female qualifier Cassy Herkelman's first round opponent refused to compete against her and forfeited the match.
