OTTUMWA, IOWA -- The recount in Senate District 47 is on hold again.

No votes were counted on Tuesday in the disputed contest between incumbent Keith Kreiman and challenger Mark Chelgren.

Wapello County Auditor Kelly Spurgeon told the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday morning that her office had planned on county ballots on Tuesday.

The recount will now restart on Wednesday. Spurgeon originally told the Supervisors that she was not able to get a hold of Ted Sporer, Chelgren's recount representative.

However, Sporer was contacted and will be available to count ballots on Wednesday.

The recount can't continue without all three recount commission members present.

The recount began last Friday, when five precincts and some absentee ballots were counted.

All the parties agreed to not continue the effort on Monday.

The recount must be completed before the official state canvass on Saturday.

Spurgeon estimated that recount might be finished by Wednesday evening.
