KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- United Way in Kirksville is well on its way to reaching its fundraising goal of $275 thousand.
The Salvation Army helped out united way by donating all the proceeds from today's sales to the organization.
Local Boy Scout troops also sold hotdogs and soda to raise money.
"We're coming along. We're about 40 percent of our campaign goal. We're a little over $100 thousand but we're hoping that in the coming weeks things pick up and we do hope that people will generously help out. I know it's tough economic times for everybody but those of us who do have work and who have a way to pay the bills are fortunate and blessed, and we're blessed to have an opportunity to share with those who don't have that good fortune,” said John Dungan of United Way.
Dungan added that United way is campaigning to raise money for various local causes the organization sponsors.
