UNIONVILLE, MO -- KTVO has received numerous phone calls and e-mails regarding a mysterious van in the area.  Descriptions range from Schuyler County bus stops to a park in Queen City and local areas in Livonia and Worthington.  The Schuyler County Sheriffs Office even reported police work being done in Macon over the matter.

After making several phone calls KTVO discovered reports started coming in about the van nearly a month ago in Putnam County.

"We don’t know what this person is doing, we don’t know at this point if he’s committed any criminal acts we’re aware of” said Putnam County Sheriff Jason Knight.

Authorities from around the area are reporting similar information that does not match up.  Every time a report comes in there is a different description of the van.  Sheriff Knight told KTVO the only hard information they have about the van is that there is no front license place and the rear license plate is dirty.  As for a make, model or color, there is no further information.

“The description has varied” said Sheriff Knight.  “The thing is if they were doing something illegal you know they could change vehicles."

Sheriff Knight says this is the perfect opportunity to re-educate children and parents on safety.

"My thing is just obviously stress to your children that you know you don’t talk to strangers.  If you don’t know someone you don’t go up and strike a conversation with them” said Knight.  “The main thing is the parents need to know they need to supervise their children.  They need to know where their kids are and they need to have some type of adult supervision wherever they’re at."
