Sentenced for killing eagle

A northeast Missouri father and son duo heard their sentences Monday in Federal Court in Saint Louis. 

The two had earlier entered guilty pleas in connection with federal wildlife violations. 

Douglas Byrn, 45, of Memphis was sentenced to one year of probation and ordered to pay a $10,000 fine for two violations of the migratory bird treaty act. 

Byrn's son Logan, 19, of Downing was sentenced to one year of probation and a $250 fine in connection with one violation of the act. 

The two are also banned from hunting with weapons of any type while they are on probation. They are also banned from possessing firearms while on probation. 

The two admitted to shooting a Bald Eagle and trapping and shooting a Great Horned Owl.
