KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- A report of a man and woman who had locked themselves in a bathroom at PC Mills Park in Kirksville has landed one person in jail on a drug charge.
Police arrested Chay Lynn Shear, 29, of Kirksville on Tuesday afternoon.
She is charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, along with two misdemeanor charges.
When Kirksville police arrived at the park, they noticed a backpack on the ground near the woman.
In plain view in a mesh pocket of the backpack, the officer saw a pair of metal knuckles, which are illegal to possess.
A further search of the backpack revealed several morphine pills, which Shear did not have a prescription for.
Court documents state that Shear admitted the solid residue on two spoons in her backpack was morphine, and that she had been using the spoons to shoot up with.
The residue on the spoons later field tested positive for morphine.
A drug verification check on the pills in Shear’s backpack confirmed they were morphine.
Shear is in the Adair County Jail on $25,000 cash only bond.
