LA PLATA, MO --
You can spend part of your Labor Day weekend on the golf course, but we’re not talking about golfing.
The 19th annual Run Through the Jungle 5k Run and 1.2 mile walk will begin Saturday at 9:00 a.m. A tot-trot will begin at 8:15 a.m. This race is unique to the area because 1.9 miles of the 5k run takes runners through the La Plata Golf Course.
Why should people run your race?
“It’s a lot of fun and I’ll tell you what though for runners, I think the reasoning is that it’s such a great course. We’ve had so many runners in the past that have complimented us on the golf course part of it, they love to run out there,” said Race Director Dennis Hendren. “Just come down. It’s also part of our Soybean Festival, it’s actually the kickoff of the Soybean Festival, come down and not only do the race but just stay around for the rest of the festivities that day, we’ve got things going on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday."
Hendren says not only is it a good course but there are nearly $2000 in door prizes that all runner and walkers are eligible to win. Find the registration form here.
