LANCASTER, MO. -- The Schuyler County Sheriff's Department held 'A Day on the Run,' a fundraising event for local law enforcement and emergency personnel.
The day started off early with a half-marathon for all ages. In the afternoon the festivities included a doughnut eating contest, scavenger hunt, and a chance to toss pies at Schuyler County's finest.
KTVO asked the two doughnut-eating champions for their secrets to success. Here's what they told us:
"I Just Channeled Homer Simpson and dug deep like a real champion and went after it," said Nick Oliver, 28, of Glenwood.
Trace Gottman, 5, didn't think it was so complicated. "There ain't nothing really to it," he said.
Later in the day was a barbeque in Downing, Mo. The "Roasting of the Pigs" included entertainment by the Bruce Poe Band, and " Pig Chip Bingo." For those who don't know what that is, visit this link.
Money from the fundraiser will go toward new first aid and computer equipment for theh Schuyler County Sheriff's Department.
