JEFFERSON CITY, MO. (AP) -- Around three-quarters of Missourians are buckling their seat belts.
Missouri transportation officials say a June survey found 76 percent of motorists and passengers wear seat belts, down from 77 percent in 2009.
The annual survey involves observing more than 126,000 drivers and passengers in 460 urban and rural locations around Missouri.
Nationwide, federal officials say use of seat belts was roughly 84 percent in 2009.
The Missouri survey showed that people driving vans and sport utility vehicles wear seat belts most frequently. Less than two-thirds driving pickup trucks wear seat belts.
