OTTUMWA, IOWA -- The gaming world isn’t looking to make a splash, but rather a big bang in Ottumwa Thursday.
The International Video Game Hall of Fame’s four-day Big Bang event starts Thursday.
With gamers from across the world bringing enthusiasm and video game passion to the City of Bridges, KTVO wanted to see what the Buzz was around town:
“I think it’s going to draw a lot of attention to Ottumwa which I think is pretty good. We need a lot more around here. There isn’t a whole lot people that come through Ottumwa very often and I think this will bring a lot of people out,” said Ottumwa resident Nick Reynolds.
Mark Riley said he is not planning on attending but thinks it is a good thing for Ottumwa.
His grandson is big into video games.
“Well I am just surprised it did show up in Ottumwa. I didn’t realize how big of a deal it was until after that first one they had.”
Bobbi Washington said her family plans on attending. She is looking forward to the concerts the most.
“It’s been a long time coming and we hope to see it prosper. We are going to support it. We will support it.”
Lori Zingg said her family has purchased the family pass, but she unfortunately will miss the event because of a wedding.
“Actually I am really sorry to miss it because I think it looks (exciting). I saw the ad at the north HyVee about all the different activities that they are going to be doing and I am really excited for Ottumwa.”
Unfortunately, roughly half the people KTVO talked with had not heard of the event or did not what it was.
Organizers for the Big Bang are still looking for volunteers.
