OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Iowa Hawkeye fans have a chance to get out and meet some coaches Friday evening.

The Southeast Iowa I-Club is holding their annual tailgate banquet at the Tom Arnold Net Center at Indian Hills.

While the main event starts at 6:00, some fans are getting a jump on the day early and hitting the links for a shotgun style golf tournament Friday morning.

The event continues in the evening where fans have the chance to meet and mingle with a number of coaches.

“At 6:30 the coaches- coach (Kirk) Ferentz, coach Lisa Bluder, and coach Gary Dolphin- will be there. They take (pictures) and mingle with fans, talk sports with the fans, and sign autographs,” said Southeast Iowa I-Club president Kermit Knott.

The official program starts at 7:30 with a number of coaches speaking including Coach Ferentz.

The event also includes door prizes and a silent auction.  He says they have an autographed Orange Bowl football from the game that will be going home with somebody.

He invites everybody to come.

“Basically if you are a Hawkeye fan you should come and you have the opportunity to mingle with the coaches you see on TV every weekend. It’s and opportunity to ask them some of your own questions,” Knott said.

Tickets for the event are $10 and can be purchased at the door.
