KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- Mothers were the focus at church services across the Heartland on this Mother’s Day.

At First United Methodist Church in Kirksville the Kids Choir performed a song to show their mothers how much they appreciate everything they do.  The song talks about mothers looking past dirty clothes and piles of toys to show children love.

Those that work with the youth say they try to teach them everyday how to show their mothers love and respect.

“Our moms see us with eyes of love and even through times when we’ve been bad or times when we’ve been good, that moms see us with eyes of love and God gave all of our moms a special gift that only moms possess,” said Children and Youth Director Lynae McFarland.

After service the mothers received a gift bag with chocolates, treats, a tea bag, and a little note.  Other youth members stood at the doors to tell all the mothers to have a good day as they left the church.

The sermon, hymns, and scripture also focused on how we should thank God for moms and all they do for us.
