KIRKSVILLE, MO -- An estimated 95 students, faculty, and family from A.T. Still University – Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) participated in Operation Osteopathic Service on Saturday.  Volunteers cleaned up 54 square blocks in the downtown Kirksville area, removing weeds and trash.

ATSU-KCOM 2013 Class President Heather Martin said this is a way for the students to give back to the Kirksville area.

“Some of us are here for two years, some of us for four” said Martin.  “This is a way where the community helps us, so this is our way of just giving back.”

This is the second time the medical students have co-sponsored the event.  Carol Kellum, President and CEO of KTVO, helped start the event in August 2009 with former ATSU-KCOM Class President John Thurman Jr.
