KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- Heartland students will jump rope and launch free throws for a good cause next week.
Mary Immaculate School phys ed classes will participate in ‘Jump Rope for Heart’ and ‘Hoops for Heart’ Monday.
The event encourages students to collect monetary donations from friends and family in the form of pledges. All the proceeds will go to the American Heart Association and it even stays in the state of Missouri.
In the past, students received pledges based on a certain number of jumps or hoops.
“But now it's just the general donation and the thing about that is we kinda want to cut out the competition among the students and make it more of a fun school environment where everybody's cheering each other on,” said Mary Immaculate Physical Education Teacher Kevin Davis.
Davis says the students are very excited and ask him about the event daily!
The students can earn prizes depending on how much money the collect and how well they do.
If you're interested in making a donation, you can contact the school for more information. The number is (660)-665-1006.
