JEFFERSON CITY, MO. (AP) -- Missouri lawmakers have given final approval to legislation designed to help motor vehicle dealers by changing the rules on how they work with automakers.

The legislation revises a state law that focuses on the business relationship between vehicle dealers and manufacturers. It was approved by the House and Senate this week and now goes to the governor.

The bill would increase the distance between dealerships. It also requires that owners of closed dealerships be offered the chance to run any new dealerships placed within two miles of the closed location.
