Driver ejected. He remains in ICU.
NUMA, IOWA -- A southeast Iowa man was thrown from his truck in a one-vehicle crash early Sunday.
Just after 2 a.m. Sunday, the driver of a speeding pickup lost control of his vehicle which slid sideways off the road. The truck went down a ditch before vaulting off an embankment and becoming airborne. The airborne truck then smashed into a house with enough force to land on the roof.
The driver, Wade Peck, 21, of Corydon, Iowa, was ejected from his vehicle during the crash. Peck was airlifted and remains in the Intensive Care Unit at a Des Moines hospital.
The homeowner, Andrew Hackett, tells KTVO this isn’t the first time a car has crashed into his house. He says every wall in his home is cracked and the crash shifted the home off its foundation.
