ST. CHARLES, Mo. (AP) -- Top Missouri Republicans called a town hall meeting on health care reform Wednesday in advance of a speech on the topic by President Barack Obama.

The president plans to speak at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday at St. Charles High School, before headlining a Democratic fundraiser at 6:30 p.m. in St. Louis.

Republicans including Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder and Congressman Todd Akin scheduled a town hall meeting for 10 a.m. to discuss how Obama's proposals would affect Missouri's budget. That meeting takes place at the St. Charles Convention Center.

The evening fundraiser at the Renaissance St. Louis Grand Hotel is being held to benefit Sen. Claire McCaskill and other Democrats.
