KIRKSVILLE, MO --

Our Fact Finder Team took your pothole concerns to the city.

Fact Finder spoke with Public Works Director John Buckwalter about Kirksville's pothole problem.

Buckwalter says street crews have repaired hundreds of potholes this week. They've gone through 50 tons of patching material at a cost of $6200. But that's just a temporary solution.

“A number of these streets that we're repairing will be on the list for overlay or repair this summer and then we'll also look at making a more permanent repair on some of the potholes once we can get hot mix asphalt mix from the local supplier. But we don't expect that until the end of May at the earliest,” Buckwalter said.

The city won't be able to make more permanent repairs until overnight temperatures are consistently above freezing.

But the city started using new patching material two weeks ago, which Buckwalter says is getting better results.
