3 dead in small plane crash into home

EAST PALO ALTO, Calif. (AP) — Fire officials in Northern California say three people have died after a small plane crashed into a house.

Menlo Park Fire Chief Harold Schapelhouman says crews battled blazes at two houses in East Palo Alto on Wednesday morning. But there are no reports of injuries on the ground.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says the Cessna 310 crashed shortly after takeoff from the Palo Alto Airport. The crash site is just northwest of the airport.

Witnesses say the plane may have clipped power transmission lines. Residents are reporting power outages in the area.

Gregor says the plane had been headed to Hawthorne in Southern California.

There's no immediate word on injuries or damage.
