Fact Finder learned it may be harder for Missourians to file your taxes than you think.
Beginning last year the state of Missouri stopped providing bulk copies of state tax forms at libraries, post offices and license offices.
Anyone who filed a paper form last year will receive the same form in the mail this year.
State officials say this will save roughly $60,000 each year.
“We decided since the people who use paper forms were already getting them in the mail, that we would eliminate the bulk paperless at those locations,” said Missouri Department of Revenue Director of Communication Ted Farnen.
Farnen encourages all tax payers to file electronically because it’s quicker and less likely to contain errors.
“The errors are sometimes caught by the program that we might, you know, as just regular human beings might make a miscalculation in the adding or subtracting on certain figures,” said Farnen.
Fact Finder learned you can request the forms from your library for a small fee. If you would like to request a form from the state you can go to www.dor.mo.gov/tax or CALL 1-800-877-6881 or using your fax machine handset, you can call 1-573-751-4800.
