KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Remember those old radio shows like Dick Tracy or the lone ranger? This week the Kirksville Arts Association revived the old art form with an old Christmas classic.
Kirksville's own Curtain Call Theatre Company performed a radio adaptation of Miracle on 34th Street.
Over 200 people attended the four days of the performance starring local actors and actresses and complete with sound effects.
This play was actually adapted from a 1947 radio adaptation of the film classic. Director and actor Dan McGurk said this year's play built off the success of a similar production last year.
"We had done a smaller-scale radio show in our Christmas show last year and we decided we might want to try to do one again, this time trying to incorporate the sound effects and the costumes and the whole look of an old radio studio," he said.
McGurk also said that, while the play did not go out on the radio, it may go out at a later date.
