KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- The Kirksville Air Show starts this weekend, and officials were scrambling to solve a big problem on Thursday.
Weeks ago, Kirksville Regional Economic Development told air show officials they could use their hangar to store expensive stunt planes.
But there was one big problem they didn’t know about at the time – their hangar insurance doesn’t cover planes.
All the air show contracts were signed when K-REDI realized they were not insured.
At the last minute, they were able to find special event coverage just for the weekend.
“Our existing policy excluded aircraft from being stored in the hangar, so we bought an additional special event insurance policy,” K-REDI President Bill Lymer said.
The 2 day policy is costing K-REDI just over $300.00.
