CLARKSVILLE, MO. (AP) -- Some of the restaurants in the northeast Missouri town of Clarksville are using food produced or grown in the area.

The effort is to turn the Mississippi River town into a destination for foodies. Nathalie Pettus has turned a gas station into a restaurant and gift shop. A culinary garden sits just behind the building.

When the restaurant runs out of ingredients, the cooks can go up the hill to Vesterbrook Farm, where there is a variety of produce grown.

Then at Rackheath House, seven beehives provide fresh honey. Local fishermen also supply fresh fish.
