A Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) is in service at the Adair County Annex Building in Kirksville.
The Federal and State Emergency Management Agencies are offering assistance to those living in Adair County affected by storms, tornadoes, and flooding May 8th through the 16th. They will remain open Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. as long as they are needed.
Not only are FEMA and SEMA offering help, but other county, state, and federal aid is available.
“We kinda like to call it a one stop servicing center where people that sustained any type of damage during the May 8-16th storms, flooding, and tornado that did some destruction in the Kirksville area we encourage people to stop by,” said FEMA Public Information Officer Ken Higginbotham.
He says you're encouraged to register online first.
“We're not here to put people back into pre-disaster conditions. It is emergency and that's exactly what it's for. We're here to get people back into a safe, sanitary, and secure environment, the basic necessities, be able to get back into a habitable situation,” said FEMA Public Information Officer Ken Higginbotham.
The U.S. Small Business Administration is offering low-interest disaster loans to homeowners, renters, businesses, and private, non-profit organizations.
Homeowners can borrow up to $200,000 to repair or replace their primary residence and businesses may borrow up to $2 million for any combination of property damage or economic injury. Homeowners and renters may borrow up to $40,000 to replace personal property.
