CENTERVILLE, IOWA -- A garbage truck driver discovered the body of a carnival worker behind Lake Center Mall in Centerville Friday morning.

Police Chief Tom Demry told KTVO the driver found the body on the ground near a dumpster behind Subway just after 8 a.m.

Demry said the body is that of a 53-year-old white male from Cleveland, Texas.

His name is not being released until authorities can notify his family.

The chief says no foul play is suspected at this time. It appears the man died of natural causes.

The man was a worker with Candyland Amusements that's in Centerville for the weekend.

"He was laying on the ground. He actually had a blanket over him. He was in town with the local carnival that has come to town for the weekend, and apparently he decided that that's where he was going to sleep at last night," said Demry.

Because the death is not considered suspicious, no autopsy is planned.
