KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Have you ever wondered exactly how the city spends all of its money? Now is your chance to find out.

Kirksville has released its comprehensive annual financial report.

The city spent $32,000 to have auditors go over the document with a fine tooth comb to make sure it’s all in order.

That’s not required by law, but it is a safeguard.

The financial director says the report shows where every penny went last year.

“It is all broken down in there. There is a combined statement and then there are individual statements. Residents can see revenues, expenses, and the balance sheet,” Finance Director Laura Guy said.

Kirksville’s finance department was awarded a special certificate because their report is so comprehensive.
