KIRKSVILLE, MO -- The Kansas City Chiefs are getting some new digs, leaving a politician outraged.

The Missouri Development Finance Board, chaired by Lt. Governor Peter Kinder, approved $25 million in state tax credits to the Chiefs. The money will be used to renovate Arrowhead Stadium and build an indoor training facility in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Just two years ago the state gave the Kansas City sports teams $50 million for stadium improvements. One state senator thinks that legislators need to keep a closer eye on what the finance board is doing.

“This group does not have to deal with all the other spending constrictions that we have over in the legislature. They say this will make money, this will be a good deal in 20 years. Well, we have to get through next year and the next year, and I have counties that the average median income is $16,000. I can drive through whole counties in my district that don't have a pharmacy,” said State Senator Wes Shoemyer.

Shoemyer says this is a terrible message to send to voters who are already skeptical of politicians.
