KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Normally when you want a tree cut down in your yard, you don’t want it to fall on your house. Today, a local tree service decided to go a different route.  Charles Cannaday, the owner of Cannaday Tree Service made a deal with a contractor that was demolishing this home at 702 Link Street in Kirksville. The contractor wanted Cannaday to remove the trees so he could get rid of the house.

Cannaday negotiated a deal of a lifetime.

“I told him I’d do it cheaper if I could drop it on the house.  I’ve never done that.  I’ve had…I don’t know how many years of doing everything I could to avoid doing that.  So, it was entertaining to be able to actually see what a six-thousand pound log would do to the peak of a roof,” said Cannaday.

And it didn’t do a great deal of damage.  Cannaday told us that the log on penetrated about a foot-and-a-half of the roof. He said the roof was a bit stronger than he thought.

Cannaday says he was pretty excited about it and had a lot folks eager to help.

“I had everybody that even is remotely connected with any business fighting for the person to be up there making that cat.  Actually, I had a couple of them offer to pay me,” Cannaday said.

Cannaday says the guy that got to the house first, got to get on the roof and take down the tree.

This will be part of an upcoming commercial Cannaday will be doing that you can see on KTVO.
