KIRKSVILLE, MO -- A few northeast Missouri law enforcement agencies received something that can help a child get through a tough time.

The Kirksville Moose Riders of Moose Lodge #1751 and the Women of the Moose Chapter 824 presented Tommy Moose Dolls to the public service agencies at the Moose Lodge in Kirksville Monday evening.

The dolls were given to the Kirksville Police and Fire Departments, the Adair County Sheriff's Office,the Adair County Ambulance District, Truman State University Public Service and the Missouri State Highway Patrol to give to children in times of crisis or a traumatic situation.

For everyone involved in this project, it's just another way of helping out the children of the community.

"We feel great, we are out here helping the community. It gives you that warm feeling deep inside. From what we heard in the past, when the kids get it, it soothes them and allows law enforcement to continue doing their job. The dolls brings happiness to a kid that's in a stressful situation," said P.T. Woods of Kirksville Moose Riders of Moose Lodge #1751.

Since 2002, over 100,000 Tommy Moose Dolls have been donated nationwide.

Locally in Kirksville, the program has been a major success and more dolls will be given out again when needed.
