OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Some students of the Culinary Arts Program at Indian Hills Community College recently returned to the states from Spain.
Culinary Arts Director Gordon Rader took students overseas for a tapas competition that is held every November in Spain.
The competition brings in students from 15 countries all with the same goal in mind, to win.
“We didn't win this year but we won. My student, it was her first time to Europe, and it was amazing to watch her eyes each day and the excitement that she brings back and this is what education is all about, to get folks into the next level, to open up new pathways for their success. And so we had a lot of great connections and that’s what we do every year and I’m pleased to be able to share it with folks,” said Chef Rader.
IHCC’s Culinary Arts Program did receive an award, a distinction of fine dining. It is an award that only goes to the best restaurants in the world.
