KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- The 2012 elections are over, and in Adair County, the race for sheriff was one a lot of people had their eyes on.

Republican Robert "Bob" Hardwick defeated Democratic challenger Larry Logston.

Hardwick received 5,807 votes compared to Logston’s 4,017.

“I want to thank this community,” Hardwick said. “It's a great community, a caring community, and we've formed a partnership with the sheriff’s office and the community, and I want to thank everyone for their support and their vote. We’re going to continue to run the sheriff’s office in a professional manner, and again I want to thank all my supporters and everyone (who) helped me during this campaign. I appreciate it very much. Thank you.”
