NOVINGER, MO. -- One Heartland community is coming together to help out a family after losing their home to a fire.

About 15 fire fighters responded to a major house fire on the corner of Missouri and Main Streets in Novinger around 5:30 Sunday afternoon.

According to Adair County Fire Barry Mitchell, the fire started due to an electrical problem and the home is a total loss.

No one was home at the time of the fire, but Stephanie Neyens and her two boys who lived in the house have lost everything.

Since Sunday night, Novinger residents have been coming together donating household items and clothing, but monetary donations are the thing the family needs right now.

Novinger Mayor Jeff Dodson said donations can be given to Donna Broadwell at Novinger schools. Cash donations may be left with Novinger City Collector Lisa Rhoads at Novinger City Hall.
