KIRKSVILLE, MO -- While the economy is making a slow recovery, many across the Heartland are still unemployed. With jobs hard to come by, having your resume stand out could help land that next job.

On Tuesday, the Missouri Career Center held several workshops that helped potential employees refine their resume, interview skills and talk about what jobs are in demand.

“We present the best practices for how to approach an interview. We go over information that businesses have provided us. We don’t just show a video that was done in St. Louis or Chicago. We focus on what the businesses locally like to use. We talk about soft skills, arriving on time, dressing for success then following that we do a comprehensive resume workshop. We go over the different types of resumes used now,” Missouri Career Center Shari Schenewerk said.

Applicant’s who took part in the workshop gained access to additional online tools including the optimal resume writer and a virtual interview program.
