KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- A family friend of a young northeast Missouri boy who died of brain cancer over the weekend is planning a very special final farewell.

Cadence Billington is organizing a community balloon release following Friday's funeral for 13-year-old Will Jacobs of Winigan, Missouri.

Billington is requesting that whoever wants to participate in the balloon release line up along Business 63 in Kirksville from JC Penney south to Highway 11 West between 2 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. this Friday.

Will's funeral is set for 1 p.m., and it is expected to last approximately an hour.

His casket will then be transported by a Green City Fire Department pumper truck to its final resting place in Winigan Cemetery.

Billington has already gathered donations of balloons and helium, but if you would like to donate more to make sure there are enough for everyone, you may call her at (660) 988-0655.

You may also call her with any questions about the event.

Billington said you may pick up balloons at Graphic Impressions on North Franklin Street in Kirksville Friday any time before 2 p.m.

You are also encouraged to wear gray because it is the color used to raise awareness of brain cancer.
