OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Saturday morning the Ottumwa YMCA teamed up with the Heartland Humane Society for the first ever Autumn Pet Festival.

More than 50 dogs and their owners came out to the Ottumwa Bark Park to promote staying healthy and active.

Admission was one bag of dog or cat food for hours of lots of tail wagging.

“We are thrilled at the turnout we're having. We have a lot of food donations plus donations and we are just really thrilled to be able to do this healthy morning event. The people are walking on the levee with their dogs. It's healthy for them and we just thank so much the YMCA for asking us to join them in this,” said Jean Sporer, Heartland Humane Society.

The executive director of the Ottumwa YMCA, Tom Sisler, told KTVO that he hopes to make the Autumn Pet Festival an annual event.
