KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- A northern Missouri man is now a convicted child molester.

On Friday, an Adair County jury found David Darr Senior, 63, of Marceline guilty on a total of seven counts: one count of child molestation, three counts of first-degree statutory sodomy and three counts of second-degree statutory sodomy.

The two-day trial was held in Adair County Circuit Court on a change of venue from Linn County.

The Marceline Police Department started the investigation into Darr's crimes back in January 2010.

Officers discovered Darr sexually abused three child victims at his home between June 9, 2007 and July 5, 2009.

During the course of the investigation, police officers executed a search warrant at Darr's Marceline home and discovered items in the home that had been described by his young victims.

The Adair County jury deliberated approximately two hours Friday before handing down its verdict of guilty on all counts.

Linn County Prosecutor Tracy Carlson said he received substantial assistance in this case by Assistant Missouri Attorney General Monty Platz.

Darr is set to be sentenced November 9, 2012 in Adair County Circuit Court.

Carlson said Darr will be required to serve a minimum of 10 years in prison.

Darr's son, David Darr Junior, also of Marceline, is serving a 15-year sentence in federal prison after pleading guilty to one count of production of child pornography following his sentencing in February 2011.
