KIRKSVILLE, MO -- The Lions Club is known for fighting blindness.

It collects glasses and gives vision screenings to people who can not afford them.

It also has community projects and give awards and grants.

And, the Kirksville Lions Club wants you!

Meetings are on the first and third Thursdays of the month at 6:30 p.m.

The next meeting is September 20 at the Kirksville Holiday Inn Express.

Membership Chair Amanda Mills said joining the Lions Club is a great way to get involved with the community.

“I think it’s important to join the Kirksville Lions Club,” Mills said. “It's a good way to get your name out there, meet a lot of people… and just have a lot of fun.”

Membership to join the club is $30.
