KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- Two members of the U. S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team were unable to perform in Sunday's Cape Air Kirksville Air Festival due to being involved in a bicycle accident.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 30-year-old Howard Sanborn and 26-year-old Jonathan Lopez were transported by Air Evac to University Hospital in Columbia, Mo. around 8 a.m. Sunday morning.

Troopers said both were riding bicycles along the shoulder of Highway 63 near La Plata, Mo. when a car, driven by 24-year-old Nathan Worstell, crossed into the shoulder and hit Sanborn. Sanborn then subsequently ran into Lopez.

Hospital officials said Howard Sanborn is in serious condition and Jonathan Lopez has been treated and released.
