BLOOMFIELD, IOWA -- The Davis County Players are hosting the third annual Summer Shorts Play Festival at the Iowa Theater in Bloomfield this weekend.

The festival will consist of seven short plays and for the first time ever, audience members will get their chance to cast a ballot and vote for which play they like best. The winning playwright will receive $100.

This presentation of plays is unique because of its variety. Whether you like comedy, drama, or a mix of both, the festival will have something for everyone.

"Being there are seven different plays, it has a little bit of everything for everybody," said Michelle Williams, author of "Before the I Dos". "Each of the plays is five to 15 minutes long so if you don't like one of them, very soon there's going to be a different play."

"We have tragedy, we have comedy, we have some real serious plays and we have some real silly, frivolous plays," said James Grob, author of "Two-Run Triple". "So it's an evening of fantastic entertainment."

Additionally, all of the plays are written by Iowa authors, the majority of them Davis County residents.

The Summer Shorts Festival is Friday, August 3 and Saturday, August 4 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $6 for kids 12 and under and $8 for adults.

The full list of plays is as follows:

-"And on the Seventh Day", written by Greg Freier of Norwalk, directed by James Grob.

-"In the Dark", written by Tom Deiker of Clive, directed by Michelle Williams.

-"He's Mine!", written and directed by Brittany Derby and Zack Musgrove of Bloomfield.

-"Good Night, Officer Byrn", written by Leah Howk of Bloomfield, directed by Gloria Reeves.

-"Before the I Dos", written and directed by Michelle Williams of Bloomfield.

-"Twilight Time", written by Williams S.E. Coleman of Des Moines, directed by Kyle Spurgeon.
