EDINA, MO -- On July 9th, Missouri 15 will close to replace the North Fork River Bridge. That is located north of Edina. The 89 year old truss bridge will take approximately 49 working days to replace and should open again to traffic in late August. Road closure signs will be in place to alert motorist of the work. A detour is available on other routes including double AA, V, and Missouri 6.

“The bridge I believe is 89 years old at this point. It’s just outlived its service life. It is in pretty rough shape. It’s a truss structure which really limits the size of vehicles that can go through it not only on width but on height as well. The new bridge that we will be replacing it with will not be a truss structure. It will be just standard barrier wall on the edge and it will be 28 feet wide which should allow a lot more access,” said MoDOT Resident Engineer Jeffrey Gander.

MODOT has had a tight budget this year and this is one of the only major projects occurring throughout northeast Missouri. For more information on MoDOT projects you can visit their website at www.MODOT.org/northeast.
