KIRLSVILLE, MO -- For Tuesday's Facebook Story of The Day, many of you wanted to know how to make it easier on your car during this heat wave.

KTVO went to Buck Brothers Sunny Slope Auto in Kirksville and learned the reason why heat gets into the car is because heat rises in the hood of your car and builds up.

It's important to have the proper level of anti-freeze to help the car run cooler.

Also, make sure all your belts and hoses are in good shape.

But one of the most important things is to make sure your air conditioner is working properly.

"You need to have your air conditioner checked out and have the proper amount on freon in the system. But also too little or too much freon won't make it work right," said Eddie Buck, owner of Buck Brothers Sunny Slope Auto.

Buck says a lot of people are also concerned with their car's batteries this time of year as well.

"Batteries don't last as long as they used to. We replace batteries more in the summer than in the winter. If your car or battery is four years or older, you need to have it replaced or checked," Buck said.
