MACON, MO. -- As the Fourth of July approaches, celebrations and tributes start to take shape around the area honoring those who deserve our respect.

The temperature outside didn't stop the more than 100 people who packed into Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon to celebrate and honor local veterans.

This was the second year of the Patriot Guard Riders "A Tribute to Veterans."

The Patriot Guard, the National Guard, Boy Scout members, and members of the community were all on hand to participate in the special day, and for one of the event coordinators this is something she looks forward to every year. "It's a great honor," said Amy DiFatta-Whisenand. "I'm so happy that we're able to do this and comply with our veterans and our soldiers serving today."

Loch Haven honored a total of 27 veterans Friday afternoon.
