KIRKSVILLE, MO -- If you have noticed some welcoming sites at the gas pump, you are not alone. Gas prices continue their downward trend across the country, nearly eight cents just in the last week. That brings the national average to $3.45 a gallon.
Across the Heartland, gas prices also continue to fall. In Missouri, prices have fallen nearly six cents in the last week giving an average $3.25. Iowa prices have fallen four cents bringing the average to $3.44.
On Tuesday, across Kirksville, KTVO found gas going for $3.31 at the Kum and Go on the Truman State Campus, $3.29 at Wal-Mart and also $3.29 at the Hy-Vee.
Elsewhere across the Heartland gas prices differed as much as twenty cents; ranging from $3.27 in Brashear, $3.31 in Macon, $3.38 in Centerville and $3.49 in Ottumwa.
The national average has now dropped to its lowest level since February fourth.
