KIRKSVILLE, MO -- By the end of the week, you should be able to see noticable changes in downtown Kirksville.

Preparations have already begun for a new cell tower to be placed behind City Hall.

An 18 foot trailer and crane will be making their way into town Friday as the present tower is taken down, and the new one is built.

The city owned the previous tower, but the new tower being built will be a T-Mobile cell tower.

The new tower will be higher which will improve communication, and combine all seven emergency antennas to a central location.

Each antenna will take about a day to complete, and the public will be made aware before being taken off frequency while it is being moved.

The frequency will go down, but we have back up frequency for them, so we'll switch them to a different frequency." said Chris Killday, from the Adair County Central Dispatch.

Each antenna is likely to take an hour to be placed on top of the building.

Work is expected to be finished by next week.
