KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Nice weather means perfect conditions for area road workers.

A number of road projects are ongoing across portions of Northeast Missouri. Today through June 7th, marking operations will be occurring between Route 6 and New Street in Kirksville. Traffic will be reduced to one lane at intersections while crews repaint crosswalks and turning lanes.

Also running today through June 14th on Route 149 between Route 6 and Route 11, pavement repairs will be happening at various locations reducing traffic to one lane.

Additional road improvement projects are ongoing in Macon, Monroe, and Clark counties.

MODOT reminds you to slow down and pay attention when driving through a work zone. Last year 11 people were killed and 701 injured in work zones.
