OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Not only was Memorial Day weekend full of graduation parties throughout the Heartland, but this weekend also marked the opening of The Beach Ottumwa.
The sunny and hot weather was a good excuse to cool off at The Beach Ottumwa and catch some rays. And a lot of people did just that!
“We had 400 Saturday, 400 Sunday and probably 600 on Monday. Monday was the best Memorial Day I’ve ever seen at an aquatics park and a lot of it had to do with the weather. The weather was perfect but it was a fantastic weekend at the Beach -- kicked the season off and we're off to a good start, financially too,” said Beach Ottumwa Manager Gene Rathje.
More than 300 season passes have already been sold at $75 each. Daily passes cost $5 and The Beach is open daily from noon until 8 p.m.
“For a 20 year-old water park, it’s doing pretty well -- everything working perfectly,” said Rathje.
