NOVINGER, MO -- Coal miner days continued in Novinger Sunday afternoon with a parade through the town.
State representative Zachary Wyatt was is charge of organizing the parade. Other local officials including Adair County Sherriff Bob Hardwick and the Novinger Fire Department also took part in today’s parade. Parade floats worked through town passing out candy to kids along the way.
Prizes were awarded to the floats, cars, and horse entries, as well as the largest group, and overall favorite. This weekends Coal Miner Days is the 26th annual event in Novinger celebrating the cities rich history in mining and how that helped found the city in the late 1800’s.
Many other events also took place including an ATV drag event, car show, 5K Race, and many forms of entertainment. The nice weather brought many people out for a good time and the events that started Friday ended Sunday night with a beautiful firework show.
