KIRKSVILLE, MO -- One Heartland hospital is saying thank you to emergency personnel.
Northeast Regional Medical Center hosted Emergency Services Appreciation Day.
Fire, police, and medical services personnel joined the hospital's ER staff and were treated to a picnic lunch Wednesday with lots of comfort food.
Northeast Regional wanted to let these hard working people know how much they are appreciated by the community.
"We need to realize the wonderful assets we have available when ever you have an emergency or someone in your family becomes ill. We work together as a community and as a team," said Mandy Doumit, Northeast Regional's ER Nursing Director.
Local officials say they are grateful for the teamwork with the hospital.
"We certainly appreciate Northeast hosting this event. Not just the ambulance district but also the fire and police departments. It is a great event and we thank them for putting it on," said Larry Burton, Chief Administrator Officer for Adair County Ambulance District.
The appreciation lunch was part of EMS week which brings together communities and medical personnel to highlight the importance of local services.
It also honors the dedication of those who provide day to day lifesaving services.
