busted pipe at Aquatic Center pool in Kirksville
KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Memorial day weekend is around the corner, and the Kirksville's aquatic center readies itself to open the pool.
Unfortunately like last year, before opening day some repairs will have to be done.
A leak in the pool was discovered last week while trying to maintain the water level.
Last year, the pool had a leakage issue as well, but that was caused by the seams.
It took nearly $3,800 to fix, in part, because they had a contractor.
This year, the price will be significantly less because this leak will be repaired by the city.
"I don't have an estimate on cost. We're looking at less than $1,000 for the pipe and things," said Melanie Smith, the Asst. City Manager. Our city crews are able to make the repair for us, so that's a good thing. They're ordering the parts (Monday) today . We hope to get those in a day or two and have repairs done in a week.
Smith isn't too concerned with back to back leakage problems.
She adds, because the pool has been running for about 13 years, leakage problems is something that comes with the territory.
