MT. VERNON, IOWA -- A Southeast Iowa High School student is one of the winners of the 2012 Congressional High School Art Competition. The watercolor painting created by Chelsea Page, of Montrose, Iowa, will be on display in the U.S. Capitol for one year.
Page's winning watercolor is titled "The Yellow House". Page will also receive two round trip tickets to Washington DC to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Page competed against other high school artists in Congressman Dave Loebsack's Second District. Every Spring, the United States House of Representatives hosts the competition in order to recognize young artists from across the country.
Students from the Second District that received an honorable mention include Emilee Beattie of Ottumwa, and Molly Westermeyer, of Keokuk.
